for conversation group, i went to an apt in a slightly funkier part of town. when i entered the building, a man had just finished sweeping and there was big pile of dirt with a lot of some sort of rodent poop. this made me think that maybe the building was more on the rough side, but when i entered the apartment, it was gorgeous. it had high ceilings throughout. the large entryway had stained glass windows and led to another large hall with a burgundy paint that looked like it had big crackles all over. it turned out to be the light thrown through a funky lightshade that made the texture. the best thing was the large kitchen that opened to the large dining room which opened to huge living room. it felt like a loft, but with all the hausmann era details. it was really beautiful. this would be my ideal space.
